Ni’ihau Lei Necklaces
Ni’ihau shell jewelry is one of the most Hawai’ian art forms represented in the Maui Hands galleries. Women adorn themselves for church, for special occasions, or even for everyday with shell lei necklaces woven in symmetrical patterns to resemble flowers, including Pikake, Heleconia, and Crown flower. To celebrate a festive event, men too might wear a lei – typically a heavier design woven from larger shells like ‘Alïlea or Poleho.
All lei necklaces are made with 100 percent Ni’ihau shells, surpassing the requirements specified in H.B. #2569 regarding the protection of Ni’ihau Shell Leis. Maui Hands carries the largest selection of Ni’ihau lei on the island, which means our selection changes rapidly! We are happy to email photos of in-stock options for you to choose from.
