“I create from personal experiences and use jewelry as the platform for my expression. My pieces all tell a story, are a part of a story that I hope someday may include you… With an honors degree in Media and Communications from the University of London, Goldsmiths’ College, it’s no coincidence that my jewelry is all about communicating with my fellow man. If we can convey feelings, experiences, energies through the exchange of metals and minerals that were once connected to this earth, we can have the oneness that is our collective history, and as such, grow closer to and more conscious of our truth.
“My journey with jewelry began many years ago, with the first pair of needle nose pliers I purchased to customize a pair of earrings. I was in my teens and the roots of my passion had just taken hold. In those early days, I was a beader and wire wrapper, eventually starting up a little crafting company with a couple of friends, doing the rounds of craft fairs and markets. After a few years I felt the need to expand my world so I signed up for casting and fabrication classes at the Hui No’eau, our local visual arts center. It was there that I had the incredible opportunity to learn from a master silversmith, hugely talented artist, and dedicated teacher under whose instruction I developed the skills and techniques that I use in my work today…
“I was born and raised in Haiku, Maui, on a 27-acre pineapple farm… After about 10 years of traveling and experiencing worlds quite unlike any I’d known, I was ready to return, and that I did. I am again in Haiku, having made a journey physical, psychological and spiritual, back to my home, but seeing it now with renewed eyes and feeling it with a grateful heart.”
