Moving Forward with Purpose

A note from Owner Panna Cappelli

It’s been over a month since the fires across Maui changed so many lives, and while stories of loss continue to unfold we continue to do what we can to help our employees, artists, and community. By working closely with our insurance company very soon after the Lahaina gallery loss, Maui Hands was able to pay our affected artists for the majority of their losses. Money can’t bring back artwork or a beloved venue, but it hopefully can help smooth the way through the difficult months ahead.

Governor Josh Green has announced that the West Maui communities of Ka'anapali, Napili, Honokowai, and Kapalua will reopen on Oct. 8. From Daniel Naho'opi'i, Chief Administrative Officer, Hawai'i Tourism Authority: “The response from residents statewide and by people around the world to support Maui’s recovery has been incredible and inspiring. Now is the time for people everywhere to show their support for Maui by booking trips, making restaurant reservations, and frequenting Maui’s retail stores and attractions that support workers and their families.”

Our galleries in Makawao, Pa'ia, and Wailea need your support to remain open and employ staff members who can no longer work in Lahaina. If you’ve ever thought about buying something from Maui Hands but didn’t go through with your purchase, now is the perfect time to reach out. Visit our website or email info@mauihands.com with inquiries big and small — every little bit helps. Mahalo for your kokua.
