Keoni Woo

Keoni Woo got his start in woodworking as a young man when he worked as an apprentice boat builder on Oahu and built both fishing boats and Hawaiian outrigger and double hull canoes.   He then went into shaping and glassing surfboards and after a move to California, apprenticed and studied fine cabinetry.

Upon returning to Maui, he received a grant to work with a master woodworker to create and reproduce native Hawaiian art for local and national museums.

Today, Keoni’s focus is creating functional furniture and unique pieces using native hardwoods with and artistic technique incorporating traditional and European styles into his own concept he calls Hawaiian Art Nouveau.
