Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dennis Holzer has lived in deserts, forests, and cities, and for close to 40 years on Maui. He enjoys bringing out the natural beauty that wood offers and feels a connection with each piece as it takes on a life of its own.

Dennis finds inspiration for his work all around in the characteristics of people and the striking impressions of wildlife, in particular the grace and flow of marine life. He likes the freedom of abstract carving with its endless possibilities, creating shapes that flow and interact with one another. Each piece of work that Dennis creates is sacred to him, from its conception to its finding a home.

Dennis owned his own gallery for a time in Makawao on Maui, and has won numerous awards for his work which can be found in private collections worldwide.
