Craig Gardner

As a professor of theater and the humanities at the University of Hawaii, I see first- hand the power of art.  It opens doors, changes lives.  Being a witness to the creative process is one of the great joys of being human.  I’m a teacher and a student, artist and audience.   Sculpture now occupies center stage in my creative life.  I enjoy working in various mediums – wood, basalt, gourds…but mostly alabaster.  Each stone is unique, each has a story to tell.  What waits inside, the drama, merely has to be given its freedom by skilled hands and an attentive heart.”
