After earning her B.A. in cultural anthropology, Andrea Pro pursued the study of printmaking. Her home and studio is on the slope of Hualalai Mountain, Hawai’i, on a lovely five-acre coffee and macadamia nut farm .
Andrea’s unique and beautiful original prints are made one at a time by hand. She carves an image on a wood block or plate which transfers to paper when inked and run through a press. She does both single carving wood pieces and series carved reduction pieces printed in very limited editions on archival paper.
“Polynesians brought many essential plants and many of these, along with the plants they found here, are now rare or endangered. I enjoy many happy hours volunteering with reforestation projects and hiking the forests, beaches and back trails of Hawai’i learning about the plants featured in my art”
