About The Artist
Kaleialoha was born and raised on the island of Niʻihau and has participated in Niʻihau shell lei making since childhood. She was a hanai (adopted) of her grandparents, Iokepa and Kuʻuleialoha Kelley. Kuʻuleialoha was considered to be the premier lei maker in her day. Today, Kaleialoha is also considered to be one of the premier lei makers. Kalei learned the arduous task of collecting and sorting shells at the age of seven and under the tutelage of her grandmother, Kuʻuleialoha, she was an accomplished lei maker by the age of nine. Presently, Kaleialoha is held in very high regard for her excellent craftsmanship. The shells adorning this lei are exclusively from Niʻihau. It is with great pleasure that Kalei creates her leis for you to enjoy for a lifetime.
