Live edge refers to wood that has edges that follow the original bark lines. This table has a live edge local Hawaiian kou slab top. Kou historically was used for calabash bowls and predates Hawaiian koa as a popular local wood. The top is finished in penetrating wax with a final paste wax so it is easily maintained. The post and base cabinet are mahogany. The cabinet door frame is Hawaiian koa with bamboo pattern shoji paper. The inside dimensions of the cabinet are 14 x 15 x 15 inches. The top bolts to the cabinet and post so it is easily disassembled to move. This table could be used as a dining room side table, display table, or a small writing desk.
