Zebewa

Hyatt, September - Zebewa

MAUI HANDS GALLERY AT THE HYATT REGENCY, KA’ANAPALI, PRESENTS BEAD ARTIST, RONA SMITH, THURSDAY’S SEPTEMBER 10TH AND 24TH FROM 2-6. SHE WILL BE MAKING HER ECLECTIC MIX OF TREASURES FROM AROUND THE WORLD INTO THE FANTASTICAL CREATIONS OF ART THAT IS ZEBEWA.

Zebewa originally started as the childhood dream of two sisters who wanted to travel the world. They made their dream come true and began collecting small carved pieces from around the globe which they drilled and combined to make beautiful, one of a kind amulets infused with stories and symbolism from every corner of the earth. Over the last few years jeweler and a long-time collector of Zebewa, Rona Smith, began working with the sisters and in January of this year became the new owner. The sisters still continue to travel and supply Rona with precious carved pieces, including sought after Netsuke.

A multi-talented artist, Victoria Wundrum paints beautifully in watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel and also creates jewelry and mixed media constructions. She says of her recent body of watercolors “I love the combination of control and abandonment. Carefully painting clear water on a detailed space and then dropping pigment and watching it move and settle into the thick, textured paper is wonderful. I love the bright clear colors that can be captured with watercolor.” Victoria is from the Pacific Northwest and has had the opportunity to live in Japan, England and various places on the Mainland. While living in the Los Angeles area, she wrote and illustrated a children’s book, “The Stick” which is available on Amazon.

MAUI HANDS GALLERY AT 84 HANA HWY. WELCOMES ARIEL QUIROZ AS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SEPTEMBER 12TH, 19TH, AND 26TH 11-4:30. HE WILL BE PAINTING PORTRAITS LIVE IN THE GALLERY.

Fine artist, Ariel Quiroz, enjoys drawing, painting, portraiture and the human figure, mixing realistic effects with Impressionism and Expressionism. He has been participating in competitions, exhibitions, and artistic projects in visual art including theater and short films since 1995. Ariel conveys and evokes emotions and ideas, whether philosophical, aesthetic or spiritual, to stimulate the imagination and translate feelings into interesting images, that invite independent thinking and responses of joy and the value of humanity. Born in Chile in 1981, Ariel ventured to Brazil, México and now Maui to share his exquisite talent.
