Rob DeCamp

Lahaina, September - Rob DeCamp

MAUI HANDS GALLERY AT 612 FRONT STREET, LAHAINA PRESENTS PHOTOGRAPHER ROB DECAMP EVERY FRIDAY IN SEPTEMBER FROM 4:30-7:30.

Although he was born in the Chicago area, award winning photographer, Rob DeCamp was fortunate, at the age of eight, to move to Honolulu. He got the photo-bug after working on the school newspaper and yearbook. Graduating from Kaimuki High School in 1986, he began working at a professional photo lab. Learning the skills required to print in a darkroom further improved his picture taking skills. Shooting weddings, events and other professional work, raised his ability to photograph the thing he really loved: nature. Hiking turned into his full time work after the photo lab he was running closed and as that door closed, another opened. The unexpected free time allowed him to pursue his true passion. Now the main focus of his work is the beauty of Hawaii. He captures the inherent majesty of the islands and shares it with the visitors who come, but may not have the time to explore it as much as he has. Says DeCamp "There is so much beauty and not enough time to see it all"
