Jeanne Young

Paia, August - Jeanne Young

MAUI HANDS GALLERY AT 84 HANA HWY IN PAIA PRESENTS PAINTER JEANNE YOUNG. COME MEET JEANNE AND WATCH HER PROCESS AND TECHNIQUES EVERY TUESDAY IN AUGUST FROM 1:00 PM - 5:00PM.

I was born in Portland, Oregon, spent most of my adult life and some of my childhood in rural Alaska. In the area I was raised, there werenít schools for the kind of art I wanted to make so I developed an education strategy for myself and eventually travelled to study under artists who had mastered the skills I wanted to have.

Iíve been showing professionally since 2004. Iíve won national awards for painting, have been commissioned to do life-size bronze sculptures, taught many workshops and classes. I came to Maui for vacation and was invited to join a gallery in Lahaina. I fell in love with the North shore, flew to Alaska long enough to finish a bronze sculpture commission, and came back to Hawaii to begin my new adventure.

I explore any subject and style that stimulates my artistic passion. Eventually I always seem to come back to people and all the beautiful ways that we engage with life. A favorite subject is people and water. The energy and power of the ocean combined with the seemingly effortless skill of surfers in the waves is so much fun for me to paint. Thereís just something about taking all my old-school training and applying it to such a joyful pursuit that brings me great satisfaction.

Patricia Heath

Makawao, August - Patricia Heath

MAUI HANDS GALLERY AT 1169 MAKAWAO AVE. PRESENTS JEWELER PATRICIA HEATH ON THE 13TH AND THE 27TH OF AUGUST. COME MEET PATRICIA AND APPRECIATE HER COLLECTION OF WORK ON DISPLAY. SHEíS A LOVELY LADY AND AN EXTREMELY TALENTED SELF-TAUGHT SILVERSMITH.

My name is Patricia and Iím the artisan that makes Soul Creations jewelry. I was born in BA Argentina, and then migrated with my family to California at the age of fourteen. There I resided for twenty five years and in that interim marries a surfer and had four beautiful children. In hopes to slow down a little and enjoy life more, in 2008 we decided as a family to move to the beautiful island of Maui. I fell in love with Maui the moment I set foot on it. It doesnít matter what is taking place in my life, whether smooth, rough, loving or challenging, still everyday something about this majestic Island touches my soul and makes me feel Iím home.

Sadly life brought some challenges to my marriage that simply broke it without repair. I have to say though, that through those challenges, in the end, I found incredible strength, love and hope within myself. I stand tall and ever so grateful to be here living this life with as much gusto and flair as I can muster. Love is what I strive for with all I come across and everything I do. All the pieces I make are handcrafted mostly out of pure silver and have the essence and energy of Maui plus a bit of me as well. To me, Maui is a place of hope and courage. Somewhere where you find whatís deep within yourself and you choose whether to evolve or retrieve. As far as my energy goes, well Iím the woman that sticks up for her girlfriends. Iím the one that believes we all deserve to stand up for ourselves and believe we can achieve all we want. So this jewelry is packed with love, hope, sassiness, courage, strength, perseverance, dreams, gutsiness and a belief that all is well.

Simply put, Iím extremely honored to share my Soul Creations with you.
Aloha from my soul to yours, Patricia
