Christine Waara

Paia, February - Christine Waara

MAUI HANDS AT 84 HANA HWY PRESENTS WATERCOLOR ARTIST CHRISTINE WAARA. COME MEET CHRISTINE AND WATCH HER PAINTING TECHNIQUES EVERY FRIDAY IN FEBRUARY FROM 12:00PM - 4:00PM.

Light is the subject matter of my newer paintings. Without light we would not have color. How much light, placement and direction of light, create the story of light. The change of value, temperature, color, and edges is what gives the subjects of my paintings dimension.

In Hawaii, I do what the Hawaiians do. "Talking story" is what we say when we want to get together and share stories. My stories are my paintings I share with you.

Christine has taught at the University of Rochester’s Creative Workshop at the Memorial Art Gallery and has conducted workshops and given talks at various art clubs across the country. She currently works part time at Maui Hands art gallery which keeps her connected to customers from all over the world as well as learning about other artists and how they create their art. When she’s not painting, she’s usually outside hiking, biking, swimming in the ocean, tending her garden or at yoga. View Christine Waara's Artwork
