The art of Joanne Odom
Valencia
Joanne Valenia was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. She earned
a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. Discovering
the art of clay a few months before graduating, Joanne extended her studies
for another year. She moved to Maui thirty years ago and Valencia's Kihei
Studio where she makes her home is situated on 28 acres of mango orchard
along with dozens of peacocks and geese. "I find that my identity grows
with the potting process because it exercises the muscles of my heart and
inner eye. My passion is still with clay."
