The art of Valerie Mizner

Valerie Mizner and her husband live on a country acre in Peahi on the northern shore of East Maui. Her open air studio is also on the property and she enjoys a wonderful view of the ocean from her throwing wheel. Inspired by nature, Valerie enjoys incorporating imprinted leaves and shells in her work, as well as images of flowers and Hawaiian petroglyphs. All of her pieces are handmade and one of a kind and all functional work is stoneware and fired to 2400 degrees in her outdoor gas kiln.

"I love my work and look forward to each day where there is always a new idea or challenge to greet me", says Valerie. You can have us choose pieces within your specifications or we can send you photos of pieces currently in the galleries so that you may choose. Large custom orders are quite welcome. Iron red, teadust black, jensen blue, copper teal (not shown), and agean blue are some of the glazes that Valerie uses most often. Valerie is happy to work with you in creating unique pieces.
