The art of Chad Durgan

"I have always been drawn to art and it’s universal language with infinite possibilities," says Chad Durgan. After art school, where he majored in sculpture, Chad made the big move to New York City to pursue his interest in fashion. Afternoons in Central Park taught the artist about the beauty that occurs when modern meets nature. In this mood, he began to reproduce his paintings and collages on clothing. Eventually, craving more nature, he moved to Maui to pursue his jewelry making talents, taking his wearable art into the three-dimensional. His Tako Series is a great example. This series takes his love of art, nature, fashion and everything modern and turns it into a little piece of sculpture that one can wear anywhere. You will find many delightful materials in Chad’s work including wood, concrete, copper, brass, silver and precious gemstones.
